Cambridge English Qualifications exams, costly but prestigious, are recognized worldwide. The tests last approximately four hours and consist of five parts: Reading and Use of English, Writing, Listening, and Speaking. It is not necessary to obtain a minimum score in each part, but an average of 60-70% is required to pass.

Cambridge offers the possibility of sitting these exams almost monthly, and they can be taken in two formats: on paper or on a computer at one of their exam centers. Cambridge English Qualifications certificates do not have an expiration date.

The certification exams at the Official School of Languages take place once a year, at the end of May or the beginning of June. The exams assess the four language skills (comprehension and production of oral and written texts) and interlinguistic mediation. These are extensive tests lasting approximately four hours, and it is necessary to obtain a minimum score of 5 in all parts and an overall average of 6.5 to pass. In September, it is possible to retake the skills that were not passed in June or to improve the score.

These certifications are nationally recognized and are useful for civil service exams, master’s programs, or scholarships. Their cost is approximately 30 euros in Asturias. The levels of proficiency that can be certified range from A2 to C2.
